Chapter 7

In the interesting to have corner there are beverage coolers. The ones shown here are not the standard refrigerated box with a glass front. Those are nice but I wanted to show you something different.

If you have a single bottle to chill at a time, maybe an in counter chiller would work for you. This can be mounted in any counter top. You might want to even put one next to your bathtub so you can keep your wine chilled as you sit in bubbles.

The next set of pictures is an infloor chiller that can hold 250 to 400 bottles. It lifts out of the floor for easy access. I love it!

Here are two professional style refrigerators. Both are side-by-side the silver one is a 48 inch wide Kitchen Aid.

The second one is a custom panel refrigerator from the GE Monogram collection. The GE refrigerator is 42 inches wide.

Always be aware of the width and height of the refrigerator

These are all pictures of Smeg appliances. You can get real colorful if you want. The bright yellow and the fun paint job were pictures I took at the Smeg display while at the KBIS in Las Vegas Feb. 2019.

The pink refrigerator is a 24 inch wide item you may want to consider if space is limited. The blue one is from their retro line.

Of course there are other brands that get as colorful.

How about a drawer dishwasher?

These can be bought as a single unit or in pairs. Both these pictures are from the Fisher & Paykel website and show their dishwasher drawers. The front view shows a panel ready item (with a panel installed). The other picture shows an opened, filled drawer. It holds a lot.

There is usually not much to say about garbage disposals. They have not changed all that much in the last 20 years. But here is a new idea from Moen. An LED light is attached to the side of the disposal so that when the door under the sink is opened, the light comes on. It helps to see what is going on under there especially when there is a problem. The light is motion activated and runs off of a battery.

Moving on to vent hoods. Can you believe the flat panel against the ceiling is a vent for the range top? It is, and it has a light just like many of the vent hoods. A great way to vent an island where you do not want the large hood hanging down, blocking views.

Look at the other set of pictures. This is from an Italian company called Faber. When the metal cylinder is lowered, the vent comes on. When you raise the cylinder, it becomes part of the lighting system. I like it. The product is their ‘Nest Plus’ Island Up & Down Cooker Hood. Unfortunately They do not have a presence in the US yet.
