There were no pictures in this chapter, so I am posting some interesting ones here.
Linoleum is an interesting product. The first picture shows a floor from the 1950’s. Linoleum has been making a come-back with its extensive range of colors and its versatility of design options. The second picture shows and edge view of a piece of Linoleum. As you can see, the color runs all the way through the product.

Wood has always been a popular choice for flooring. It doesn’t have to be laid in long linear strips. The floor shown in this picture is laid in a chevron pattern.
Wood is easy to stand on for long lengths of time as it has some resilience to the surface.
A handy DIYer could lay their own wood floor. There are a number of ways to finish a wood floor, stain just being one step in the process.

I mentioned staining the floor in the previous set. How about using multiple colors of stain as is shown here. I think this may actually be a deck, but why not in the house.
Maybe not so colorful but staining different pieces of wood lighter and others darker would create a great effect.

If you want wood in a portion of the open floor plan but tile in the dining area or kitchen, how do you make the transition between the two?
I love both of these ideas. The geometry of the hexagons carried into the wood strips. This looks very contemporary and cutting edge. The other picture has a flow to it, like waves lapping at the beach.
I would love to do something like this in my next house, but which one?
